Task-Oriented Conversational Behavior of Agents for Collaboration in Human-Agent Teamwork
نویسندگان
چکیده
Coordination is an essential ingredient for human-agent teamwork. It requires team members to share knowledge to establish common grounding and mutual awareness among them. This paper proposes a behavioral architecture CBDI that enhances the knowledge sharing using natural language communication between team members. Collaborative conversation protocols and resource allocation mechanism have been defined that provide proactive behavior to agents for coordination. This architecture has been applied to a real scenario in a collaborative virtual environment for learning. The solution enables users to coordinate with other team members.

Literature Review of Teamwork Models
Both human collaboration and software agent collaboration have been thoroughly studied, but there is relatively little research on hybrid human-agent teamwork. Some research has identified the roles that agents could play in hybrid teams: supporting individual team members, being a teammate, or supporting the team as a whole [99]. Some other work [57] has investigated trust concepts as the fund...
متن کاملTeam-Oriented Agent Coordination in the RETSINA Multi-Agent System
Complex tasks are often solved by teams because no one individual has the collective expertise, information, or resources required for the e ective completion or performance of a task. This paper describes a prototype, implemented in the RETSINA multi-agent infrastructure, in which agents interact with each other via capability-based and team-oriented coordination. We propose a model of team-or...
متن کاملSmall Talk and Conversational Storytelling in Embodied Conversational Interface Agents
People engage in small talk and conversational storytelling to provide information in engaging ways and to serve interpersonal goals such as building rapport and credibility. Embodied conversational interface agents, that represent the computer in its interaction with human users by way of a graphical humanoid body on a screen, can also profitably engage in these behaviors. We describe the ongo...
متن کاملDTask and LiteBody: Open Source, Standards-Based Tools for Building Web-Deployed Embodied Conversational Agents
Two tools for developing embodied conversational agents and deploying them over the world-wide web to standard web browsers are presented. DTask is a hierarchical task decomposition-based dialogue planner, based on the CEA-2018 task description language standard. LiteBody is an extensible, web-based BML renderer that runs in most contemporary web browsers with no additional software and provide...
متن کاملConversational Case-Based Planning for Agent Team Coordination
This paper describes a prototype in which a conversational case-based reasoner, NaCoDAE, was agenti ed and inserted in the RETSINA multi-agent system. Its task was to determine agent roles within a heterogeneous society of agents, where the agents may use capabilitybased or team-oriented agent coordination strategies. There were three reasons for assigning this task to NaCoDAE: (1) to relieve t...
